Why SMSX exists
Public SMS directories are useful for testing and learning, but they are often confusing about what is live, what is private, and what can actually be trusted.
SMSX was built to make that experience clearer. We organise public numbers by country and service, show current status and recent activity, and explain the trade-offs before anyone uses a route. The goal is not to disguise shared infrastructure as a private communications product; it is to help visitors understand exactly what they are looking at.
Browsing is open and does not require an account. The directory is intended for low-risk testing, research, and learning how verification flows behave. It is never a substitute for a private number on a personal, financial, or otherwise important account.
